MAKING A DIFFERENCE
STEVE & VALERIE'S DASH
Steve & Valerie Burnett have been on a mission to make a
difference in the lives of children that are often forgotten; children living in
foster care. Many of the eastern Washington children they seek to serve
are shuffled from home-to-home over the years and have suffered significant
trauma from physical, sexual or emotional abuse or neglect. As a result
the kids Steve and Valerie focus on have behavioral and emotional issues that
make it difficult for them to successfully attend summer camp with other
children. By bringing a Royal Family Kids Camp to eastern Washington they
are now able to offer kids living in foster care a camp experience that embraces
who they are and deals head on with their emotional and behavioral challenges
while allowing them to enjoy a week where they can go to camp and be just like
every other child their age.
Those of us at The DASH recognize Steve & Valerie for touching
at-risk youth in our community and making their DASH count!
